Director, Investment and Production Tax Credits
Take the lead on monetizing investment (ITC) and production (PTC) tax credits across a $4 billion renewable portfolio. With hands-on ownership of modelling, diligence, qualification, and execution, you’ll become the analytical and strategic backbone of a high-impact tax-credit platform.
You’ll sharpen your expertise in structuring, with direct influence over how credits are quantified, qualified, documented, and delivered to investors. This is a chance to deepen your mastery of tax equity while working alongside senior leaders in investment, capital markets, and finance.
You’ll also benefit from a direct path to promotion, backed by a team that prioritizes development and clear progression.
What you’ll do
Apply your expert knowledge of tax credits to optimize value across a leading renewable energy platform. You’ll:
- Evaluate and recommend ITC vs. PTC elections on a project-by-project basis using levelized credit-value analysis across capacity factor, capital intensity, and adder eligibility.
- Build, maintain, and audit tax-equity and transfer models (partnership-flip and PTC streaming), including basis schedules, MACRS/bonus depreciation, and recapture exposure.
- Lead credit-qualification diligence: cost-segregation/basis support, placed-in-service determinations, energy-community and domestic-content documentation, and prevailing-wage/apprenticeship records.
- Prepare investor and buyer diligence packages and manage data rooms for tax-equity and §6418 transfer processes.
- Draft and review transaction exhibits and schedules in coordination with counsel; track conditions precedent to funding.
- Monitor post-close compliance, recapture risk, and reporting obligations throughout the recapture and credit periods.
- Track legislative, Treasury, and IRS guidance (e.g., final regulations on transferability and domestic content) and assess portfolio impact.
- Partner with Energy Capital Markets and accounting on funding mechanics, true-ups, and audit support.
What you’ll need:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or economics; CPA, MST, or active progress toward the CPA preferred. You’ll also need about seven years of experience in renewable tax equity, transactional/partnership tax, project finance, or Big Four energy tax.
Other key requirements:
- Strong working knowledge of §48/§48E, §45/§45Y, §6418, §50 recapture, MACRS/bonus depreciation, and partnership allocations.
- Expert Excel financial modeling, with precision on basis, depreciation, and credit calculations.
- Experience across multiple structures (flip, sale-leaseback, inverted lease) and asset types (solar, storage, wind) is desirable, along with familiarity with tax-credit insurance and transfer-market pricing dynamics.
